Who ISO Implementation Support Is For
ISO implementation support may be appropriate when your business needs a structured management system but lacks the time, internal resource or auditing knowledge to develop it effectively.
A&T Consultancy can assist organisations starting from the beginning, improving an existing system or preparing for an independent certification audit.
A&T Consultancy provides ISO implementation support across Newcastle upon Tyne and the North East, including North Tyneside, Northumberland, South Tyneside and Gateshead.

Some businesses begin looking for an ISO implementation consultant after a customer, principal contractor or procurement team requests ISO certification for a contract, tender or approved supplier application.

Businesses may seek ISO 14001 implementation support when they need a more organised way to manage waste, resource use, environmental obligations and operational impacts.

Some businesses begin looking for an ISO implementation consultant after a customer, principal contractor or procurement team requests ISO certification for a contract, tender or approved supplier application. The same clients often ask for CHAS or Constructionline accreditation too.

ISO 9001 may be relevant where work is completed differently between employees, departments or sites, leading to unclear responsibilities, repeated mistakes or inconsistent customer outcomes.

Shared requirements can be organised within an integrated management system, helping the organisation coordinate common activities such as objectives, documented information, internal audits, management review and corrective action.

Understanding ISO Implementation
ISO implementation support helps a business turn the requirements of an ISO standard into a management system that can be used in day-to-day operations.
The process normally begins by defining what the system needs to cover and comparing the organisation’s existing arrangements against the relevant requirements. This ISO gap analysis helps identify which processes are already suitable, where evidence is missing and what needs to change before the system can operate effectively.
From there, A&T Consultancy can help develop the responsibilities, processes, controls and ISO management system documentation required for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 or an integrated management system covering several standards.
An ISO management system should reflect how the organisation actually delivers its work. Generic documents may appear complete but can create problems when employees do not recognise the processes described or cannot demonstrate that they are being followed.
Choosing the Right ISO Standard
The right ISO standard depends on what your organisation needs to improve, demonstrate or manage. Some businesses require one management system to meet a specific client or tender requirement, while others benefit from combining quality, environmental and health and safety controls.

The international standard for quality management systems and continuous improvements.
Improve process consistency
Meet customer requirements
Clarify responsibilities
Reduce recurring errors
Support contract requirements

The international standard for effective environmental management systems.
Manage environmental impacts
Control waste and resources
Meet environmental obligations
Set environmental objectives
Support tender requirements

The international standard for occupational health and safety management systems
Manage workplace risks
Improve health and safety performance
Clarify leadership responsibilities
Support worker participation
Prepare for client or tender requirements
Businesses do not always need to choose between quality, environmental and health and safety management.
ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 can be combined within an integrated management system. Shared arrangements such as document control, objectives, competence, internal audits, management review and corrective action can then be managed through one coordinated framework.
This can be particularly useful for contractors, manufacturers and growing businesses that need to meet several client requirements without operating three disconnected systems. A full overview of our wider support is available on our health and safety services page. Our ISO Implementation Process
Every organisation starts from a different position. Some already have useful procedures and records in place, while others need help creating their first formal management system.
A&T Consultancy begins by understanding why the standard is required, what activities it needs to cover and how the business currently operates. From there, the work can be planned around the actual gaps rather than replacing suitable arrangements unnecessarily.
Confirm the relevant ISO standard, business objective and management-system scope.
Assess existing processes, documents and records to identify strengths and gaps.
Create the required processes and documented information, then put them into day-to-day use.
Complete internal audits, address nonconformities and review performance with management.
Review readiness and prepare the organisation for its external certification audit.
Qualified ISO Implementation and Auditing Expertise
Effective ISO implementation requires more than knowing what each clause says. The management system must reflect the organisation’s activities, produce useful evidence and withstand internal and external review.
A&T Consultancy combines auditing qualifications across ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 with chartered health and safety, environmental and management expertise.
A&T Consultancy’s verified auditing qualifications include:
This knowledge supports accurate gap analysis, management-system development, internal auditing and preparation for certification. ISO 19011 identifies auditor competence as an important part of planning and conducting effective management-system audits.
Chartered IOSH status and the NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma provide a strong foundation for implementing occupational health and safety management systems.
This is particularly relevant to ISO 45001 implementation, where the system must address practical matters such as leadership, worker participation, hazard identification, legal requirements and operational controls. CMIOSH is the recognised designation for Chartered Members of IOSH.
A&T Consultancy’s expertise also includes:
This broader knowledge supports the environmental and organisational elements of ISO implementation, including responsibilities, objectives, performance monitoring and continual improvement.
Policies and procedures should describe how the organisation actually works rather than create a separate system that employees struggle to follow.
A&T Consultancy focuses on retaining suitable existing arrangements, addressing genuine gaps and developing documented information that is proportionate to the organisation’s activities, risks and management structure.
A&T Consultancy works with businesses across Newcastle upon Tyne, North Tyneside, Northumberland, South Tyneside and Gateshead. Common Questions About Our Health & Safety Consultancy Services
Most small and medium-sized businesses achieve ISO certification within three to six months. The timescale depends on the standard, the size of your business and how much is already in place. The system also needs to run long enough to complete an internal audit and management review before the certification audit takes place.
No. ISO certificates are issued by an independent certification body, and we recommend choosing one accredited by UKAS. A&T Consultancy helps you develop and implement the management system, carry out internal audits and prepare for assessment, so you are ready when the certification body visits.
There are two separate costs. The first is implementation support, which depends on your starting point and the standards involved. The second is the certification body’s fees, which cover the initial audit, annual surveillance audits and recertification every three years. We can help you understand both before any work begins.
Yes, if you are already certified. ISO 14001:2026 was published in April 2026, with a transition deadline at the end of April 2029. ISO 9001:2026 followed in September 2026, with a deadline of 30 September 2029. A&T Consultancy can review your existing system against the new requirements and plan your transition.
Not automatically. ISO 45001 certification only meets SSIP requirements when it is issued by a certification body that is an SSIP member and includes the additional SSIP criteria. If it does, it may help you gain CHAS accreditation through the Deem to Satisfy route. We can check your certificate and confirm the simplest option.
Yes. Once certified, your system must be maintained, audited internally and reviewed by management each year. A&T Consultancy can carry out internal audits, help you prepare for surveillance visits and keep your documented information up to date as your business changes.
